Police are searching for a suspect after a man was found stabbed to death on a train in Long Beach Wednesday.
Long Beach officers responded to reports of a stabbing on the Metro Blue Line on the 100 block of East 1st Street around 3:38 p.m.
When authorities arrived, they found an adult male victim “suffering from apparent stab wounds to the body.”
A male suspect fled the scene before police arrived, officials said.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries, police confirm.
“Downtown Long Beach Station remains closed due to police investigation,” said L.A. Metro. “We’re continuing to run trains to Anaheim, 5th & 1st St stations if you need to travel to/from downtown LB.”
No suspect description was available and the victim’s identity has not been released. It’s unclear what initially prompted the deadly stabbing.
The deadly incident remains under investigation. A reopening time for the train was not announced.
